Katie Horn is Gina’s daughter, and she grew up learning the business of real estate. Going into the family business had always been on the cards for Katie, but she first took her own path through two careers and into motherhood, before finally committing to real estate school to follow in her mother’s footsteps.
My mom always wanted me to work with her in the family business; I grew up watching her help people buy and sell homes, listening to her handle calls; the way she communicates with, and cares for her clients taught me a lot. But I didn’t want to commit to working in real estate when I was younger, as I wasn’t sure where I was going to “land”. I didn’t want to start real estate school until I knew where my future would be.
So, what was my path? I grew up in the valley, where I attended elementary school through college. I graduated from ASU with a degree in Psychology, and after school I worked as a Child Behavior Specialist, before I transitioned to a Personal Trainer. Both fields helped families and individuals transform their lives in a positive way. I developed a true passion for helping others, and working with people to help them achieve their goals.
I met my husband, Jared, in 2017. We met in Chandler, and a short time later we took the plunge and moved to San Diego together to experience beach living for a couple of years. We moved back when we had our beautiful daughter, Kennedy, who was born in April 2019. Side note: I can’t wait to have more kids in the future!
We couldn’t stay away from the Phoenix area where we have our family, friends, and it’s such a beautiful city with so much to do. Moving back from California also gave Jared and I the affordability to purchase our first home in Ocotillo in Chandler. We bought the house in 2020, and spent four months completely renovating and updating it before the three of us moved in with our dog, Doug.
I adore being a mother more than I knew was possible. Watching my daughter learn and grow is what I live for. But after staying home with Kennedy for the first eight months, I realized I really missed working toward a career goal, and using my passion for helping others. Feeling more secure in my life’s plans, I finally decided to go to real estate school.
When I am not busy working, or chasing a toddler, sometimes I have time for myself! Some of my hobbies include Olympic lifting, power lifting, home decorating, and home cooking – we love having dinner guests! Jared and I are very social people, so we are always planning something fun, whether it’s an event, an outing, or a party!
